Sarasota Police stopped a driver who was clocked going 88 mph over the Ringling Bridge on Tuesday morning, according to a post by SPD.

The speed limit on the bridge connecting Sarasota to the keys is 35 mph, meaning the infraction was eligible for the newly passed “super speeder” law, which can lead to up to $500 in fines, 30 days in jail and four points on a driver’s license.

The super speeder law is used for those traveling over 50 mph faster than the speed limit or driving 100 mph or more. SPD said the driver going 88 over the bridge was arrested.
