To help residents keep up with hurricane recovery efforts in Sarasota’s coastal parks, the city has created a web page to track progress at SarasotaFL.gov/RestoringSarasota.

The page will provide monthly updates on 14 recovery projects, most of which are parks-related plus some assets and amenities adjacent to the water. Projections for construction start dates are included with each project update.

Conformity to FEMA’s requirements to the letter is required in order to qualify for possible federal reimbursement. The estimated cost for all repairs totals $17.4 million.

The city is also required to adhere to state and federal permitting processes, which are often complex when involving coastlines. Once permitting is approved, Florida state law and FEMA processes require competitive bidding to award construction contracts, which adds time to the restoration process.
