After the widespread devastation of the 2024 hurricane season, countless residents across Sarasota and Manatee counties were left in urgent need of materials to rebuild and repair their homes. Chris Quattlebaum, a lifelong Florida resident and manager at Manasota Flooring, is no stranger to hurricanes. But when the calls started pouring in from local homeowners, many near the company’s three store locations, he knew this was different. The overwhelming need spurred him and his team into immediate action, determined to help their community recover as quickly as possible.
The Manasota Flooring team quickly contacted suppliers, negotiating quick delivery times, worked with their financing company to offer extended terms, and stocked an affordable product for immediate delivery.
The stories of people’s lives and homes being disrupted were difficult for the Manasota Flooring team to hear but the takeaway was that there are a lot of very resilient and helpful people living here in our community.
For the past 52 years, Manasota Flooring—a family-owned and operated business—has been helping clients choose flooring that’s truly “Florida appropriate.” The ideal flooring for a Florida home should withstand high humidity, occasional water exposure, and plenty of sunlight, all while staying cool underfoot and easy to maintain.
Some of the most popular flooring choices include Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP), tile, and engineered hardwood. LVP has soared in popularity as a budget-friendly, wood-look alternative that’s waterproof, softer underfoot than tile, and scratch-resistant. Manasota Flooring now offers an even wider variety of colors and styles to suit every taste.
Tile remains a favorite for Florida homes thanks to its resistance and ability to stay cool. It’s a stylish and continues to be in high demand. Homeowners love its versatility, and designers are constantly finding creative ways to showcase it. With so many colors and patterns available, there’s truly something for everyone. Engineered hardwood is another excellent choice. It provides the warmth and beauty of natural wood while offering greater moisture resistance than solid hardwood. It also adds long-term value to the home, making it both a practical and elegant investment.
As the region continues to grow and homeowners prepare for all that Florida living, including hurricanes demand, the team at Manasota Flooring remains committed to being more than just a flooring provider—they’re neighbors, ready to lend a hand. Through hardship, this community has shown incredible strength, compassion, and determination. And while flooring may seem like just one piece of the puzzle, it’s also the foundation where families gather, memories are made, and life begins to feel normal again. Manasota Flooring is honored to play a small role in that recovery, standing strong with the community they’ve proudly served for over five decades.
All of us at Manasota Flooring encourage everyone to stay safe and be prepared this hurricane season in case things start to blow… Hurricane preparedness involves creating an emergency plan, assembling a disaster supply kit with essentials food, water, medications, and staying informed.
