As the luxurious St. Regis Longboat Key Resort celebrates one year of operating in the Longboat Key community, residents had the opportunity to connect and learn more about its amenities at the Chamber of Commerce's latest Off the Clock networking event on July 23.

The St. Regis offered tours of the property that members of the business community enjoyed while catching up with one another.

Tour guides highlighted the spa and restaurant offerings, as well as the water-based fun available for guests.

Lorna Kirwan, the resort's director of sales and marketing, said she was glad to welcome members for their first networking event there. She highlighted the available spa and restaurant services, particularly The Monkey Bar which pays homage to the beloved watering hole at Colony Beach and Tennis Resort, which was on the property before St. Regis' completion.

"We have seven different food and beverage outlets here, and five are available for guests as well as for the wider community," she said.

Upcoming events

The Longboat Chamber of Commerce has several events upcoming for the end of the summer, as events coordinator Ellen Thomas detailed.

On Aug. 15, Lo' Key Island Grille and Three Island Monkeys will co-host the next Networking at Noon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The restaurant will host lunch with small bites, and the gift shop will dish up dessert.

On Aug. 27, Wyland Gallery Sarasota will host "The Art of Networking" from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at 314 John Ringling Boulevard.

Owner Guy Vincent and gallery director Tony Rivas plan to give tours of works by artist and conservationist Robert Wyland and other famous artists, while facilitating conversations about forging community connections.

The chamber also set a date of Oct. 23 for its annual awards banquet at Lido Beach Resort. Contact the chamber for details about sponsorship opportunities.
