The Sarasota Manatee Airport Authority Fire Department is now better equipped to provide emergency medical care in critical situations at Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport.

An upgrade from Basic Life Support to Advanced Life Support services will, according to a news release, enhance emergency medical care for travelers, employees and visitors, ensuring faster, more effective medical treatment in critical situations.

The advanced service now provides personnel with state-of-the-art medical technology to address a broader spectrum of medical emergencies. This enhancement aligns with SRQ’s ongoing efforts to improve passenger safety.

“We are committed to providing the highest level of emergency medical care at SRQ,” said Fire Chief Jason Hackley in the news release. “The transition to ALS empowers our highly trained paramedics to deliver advanced interventions such as cardiac monitoring, IV medication administration and airway management, thereby giving patients the best chance for a positive outcome.”

In addition to providing advanced care at the airport, the department works in close coordination with mutual aid partners to ensure the best possible care and timely transport of patients to the nearest health care facilities for further treatment.
