The Florida Department of Transportation District One will host a public meeting on the resurfacing, restoration and rehabilitation of U.S. 301/Washington Boulevard between U.S. 41 and 10th Street from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, at Jack J. Geldbart Auditorium in the Selby Library.

The project will include milling and resurfacing the existing roadway plus improvements to comply with the American with Disabilities Act standards. It also includes upgrades to pavement markings and signage, pedestrian signals and detectors at signalized intersections.

The city of Sarasota has requested the addition of a new mid-block crossing to be installed at South Payne Parkway.

FDOT provides three ways to participate in the meeting:

  • In-person at the Selby Library, 1331 First St., in downtown Sarasota. No registration is necessary, and free parking is available in the library parking lot.
  • Virtual by registering in advance at attendee.GoToWebinar.com. The narrated presentation will run continuously with project exhibit boards, project handout and the project comment form available to view or download.
  • Online at the project website at SWFLRoads.com/project/451017-1. All meeting materials and the video presentation will be available on the project website.

All participants, regardless of the platform, will receive the same information and all comments received will be given equal weight.

In addition to the ability to provide comments in person or online, comments may also be sent to Project Manager Richard Howard by email at [email protected], or by mail to FDOT District One, Attn: Richard Howard, P.O. Box 1249, Bartow, FL 33831-1249; and by calling 863-519-2374.
