The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office had a head start on Halloween with its first Drive-Thru Halloween event on Oct. 30.
The new event had hundreds of families driving through the spooked-out sheriff's office area where costumed deputies and staff passed out hand sanitizer, bags, and plenty of candy.

Nicole Evanston passed out bags to arriving families.
James Darby and Jeffrey Mendez were ready to hand out candy.

The drive-through location received a spooky makeover.
Legacy the horse was dressed like a skeleton.

The drive-through area had plenty of creepy decoration.
