10:45 a.m., 1000 block of Gulf of Mexico Drive
Rescue assist: A police officer stopped to assist a trio of bicyclists stopped on the side of the road, only to learn one of them had been injured in a fall. The cyclist had cuts and an injured shoulder. The officer summoned fire rescue personnel, who took the rider to the hospital. The other two cyclists brought the cyclist’s bike home.

11:39 a.m., 700 block of Linley Street
Suspicious boat: An officer called to the town’s boat ramp on a report of a suspicious vessel found a sailboat up against the dock, apparently loose from its anchor. With the help of the town’s marine patrol officer, the boat was secured and its owner notified. The owner told officers he was on his way to address the situation.
Gone missing
5:30 p.m., North shore beach
Found property: An officer on beach patrol found in the sand a drivers license and a debit card. No one in the immediate area matched the description of the owner on the license, so the officer took the cards to the police station, logged them in and locked them up for safe keeping.
The long way home
8:48 p.m., 1700 block of Gulf of Mexico Drive
Suspicious vehicle: An officer stopped to learn more about why a car was parked on the side of the road with emergency flashers activated. The man inside said he and his spouse had a non-violent argument and the spouse had gotten out to walk home. An officer spoke to the spouse who confirmed the story and expressed an interest in getting back into the car.

12:48 a.m., 4700 block of Gulf of Mexico Drive
Noise: The night manager of a resort called police after numerous complaints from guests about loud music coming from a room. After talking with the guests in the room, the manager said they could stay if they kept the noise down and drew no more complaints. An officer sent to the premises tried to talk with one of the guests, but she refused to provide information and then closed the door. The officer gave the manager a case number to which to refer if a follow up call was needed.

11:30 a.m., 6300 block of Gulf of Mexico Drive
Parking complaint: An officer was sent to a gated home on a parking complaint. When he arrived, he found a real estate agent had stopped to open the gate to show the property and initially had trouble operating it. Once the gate was open, the agent proceeded inside. There was no violation.

5:48 p.m., 700 block of Linley Street
Disorderly conduct: An intoxicated man who police said tried to harm himself was taken to Blake Memorial Hospital under provisions of Florida’s involuntary commitment laws. The man refused to identify himself and had no identification on him, though police ultimately learned who he was. The man told an officer he had gotten into an argument with a friend after arriving to help properly moor a boat that had drifted off.

9:50 a.m., 3600 block of Fair Oaks Drive
Dropped 911 call: A man seeking to telephone an airline in the United Kingdom accidentally called 911, thinking it was the proper area code for the call he was placing. It was not. Police routinely investigated and learned there was no emergency.
Human disappoints dog
4:33 p.m., police headquarters
Found property: A resident came to the police department to turn in a dog toy and an iPhone she found in a town park. The phone was powered up, but password protected. The toy was a ball in bright colors. Both were locked up for safe keeping.

Loose dogs: Police were alerted to a pair of poodles running loose in the 6300 block of Gulf of Mexico Drive with no collars or leashes. On his way to the call, the officer was told the reporting party would bring the dogs to the police station. The officer met the person and dogs, brought the animals to a fenced in area and brought them bowls of water. Manatee County Animal Control was notified to pick up the police department guests.

11:23 a.m., 100 block of Gulf of Mexico Drive
Traffic collision: A driver was cited for careless driving in a collision that left no one hurt, but two cars with an estimated $13,000 in damage. Police said a vehicle stopped for traffic at Longboat Club Road was struck from behind, causing about $5,000 in damage. The second vehicle’s damage was estimated at $8,000.

8:35 a.m., 3300 block of Bayou Sound
Citizen assist: A resident reported a boat had drifted to his property from parts unknown. The officer who responded contacted the owner of the boat, who said he would come and retrieve the vessel, which appeared undamaged.

2:45 p.m., 3500 block of Fair Oaks Way
Citizen assist: Police worked to identify the owner of a deck boat found washed up behind a resident’s home. An officer used the out-of-state registration number to try to learn the identity of its owner, to no avail. Also, a call placed to a police department in the boat’s state of registration did not result in ownership information.
Fine time to leave me, loose wheel
3:10 p.m., southbound Gulf of Mexico Drive
Traffic crash: A southbound sports utility vehicle lost a wheel, which rolled down the road and scuffed another vehicle without serious damage. The driver of the second vehicle had left the scene after seeing no obvious damage. The SUV driver called for a tow truck and recovered the wheel.
