Temple Emanu-el hosts interfaith service

One thing the congregations of Temple Emanu-El and the Light of the World International Church agree on is that they need to come together and fight for one another. That was the call of action at the annual A Tribute to Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Jan. 19.

"As we honor the life and legacy, we must remember his call of action for peace, justice, freedom, and equality for all," said Trevor Harvey, NAACP president.

"Everyone should be treated by the content of their character and not the color of their skin. We are in a day and age that we must all stand together blacks, whites, Jews and Gentiles to make this country together as Dr. King tirelessly fought for."

Hosted by Temple Emanu-El and The Jewish Federation of Sarasota-Manatee, the event featured poetry readings, interpretive dance and a performance for the Light of the World choir. After the service, there was an opportunity for attendees to mingle over light snacks and desserts.
