Orchid Ball pops with Andy Warhol themed florals and color

The Orchid Ball was held Feb. 10 at the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens.

The walk into Orchid Ball on Feb. 10 was a maze of Andy Warhol-inspired plants, which led to a tent with equally artistic decor. In true Warhol fashion, pops of color across white backgrounds intermixed with the garden’s natural beauty.

Each aspect of the decor traced back to Warhol, including the food.

“Everything was so fantastic, but women in beautiful gowns and men in tuxedos eating a hamburger, you don’t see that,” said Roger Capote, senior director of special events at Marie Selby Botanical Gardens.

After a cocktail hour, dinner and a paddle raise, guests got their groove on while the band played into the night, getting the party started. After the warm-up on the dance floor, the party moved to Michael’s on the Bay, where an after-party was set up with go-go dancers and balloons, or “silver clouds,” as Andy Warhol would say.
