Sarasota celebrates the season with lights

Nothing brings joy like a beautiful light display. Here's some of Sarasota's brightest.

It's the most wonderful time of year — and the brightest.

Sarasota's homes are lit up this season to celebrate the holidays, but they're not alone. Businesses, parks and even boats are getting in on the festive action, too. So we went searching for unusual and colorful displays to get you started on your holiday light tour.

Grab a cup of coffee, eggnog or hot cocoa, jump in the car and get ready for a memorable night of holiday cheer (and many "oohs" and "aahs") with your friends or family.

Here are some of the displays we enjoyed most:

Sarasota Yacht Club

It's not just the local homes that are getting into the holiday spirit, but the boats as well. The Sarasota Yacht Club has a few colorful displays, as well as the Bayfront ferry.

2600 Euclid Ave.

This wrap-around display includes lights, inflatable snowmen and Santa and candy canes.

1715 Hyde Park St.

This home is celebrating Christmas with the religious background at its forefront, with a manger and cross display.

1725 Hyde Park St.

Sometimes a little goes a long way — this home had a touch of the holiday spirit outside its gates.

2236 Datura St.

The ever popular movie character, Minions, are taking over Christmas now, too.

2488 Hyde Park Circle

Reindeer scatter the lawn of this home. Just when you think you found them all, another one is there.

2443 Hawthorne St.

This home's display is one of those where a photo doesn't do justice — these reindeer do not play reindeer games.

The boats at the Sarasota Yacht Club shine just as bright as the homes.

On the corner of Euclid Avenue this home has decorations for days, making you want to stop and see it all.
