The Neuro Challenge Foundation for Parkinson’s hosted its first expo on April 14 at Robarts Arena to educate and empower caretakers and those living with Parkinson's disease. The Parkinson’s Expo brought neurologists and specialists from around the country to give talks and demonstrations on how to live well with Parkinson’s, a neurodegenerative disease that has no known cure.

The event drew about 1,600 attendees, making it the largest Parkinson's education event in Florida. Neuro Challenge executive director Robyn Faucy said the expo will be one of the largest annually held events in the country centered on Parkinson’s.

“People are just really happy to have an event where Parkinson’s is portrayed in a positive light,” Faucy said. “It is possible to live well with the disease. People can live with it for 20 to 30 years. It’s a long journey, and we are here to help them navigate through it.”

The keynote speaker was motivational speaker Tim Hague Sr., who became the inaugural winner of CTV’s “The Amazing Race” in Canada three years after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s.

“I see a lot of people here today willing to run their race with Parkinson's, and you are to be commended,” said Hague.
