Temple Beth Israel gathers for Shabbat dinner

Temple Beth Israel congregants reunited on Nov. 3.

About 85 members gathered for a Shabbat dinner and service on Friday evening. The dinner included tradition Eastern European specialties including chopped herring hor ‘d'oeuvres, stuffed cabbage, spaetzle and apple cake.

Before attendees enjoyed their meal, Longboat Key Police Chief Pete Cumming and Deputy Chief Frank Rubino spoke about island safety and police security measures.

Following dinner, members attended a special service where new covers were placed on the temple’s Torahs.
