Polls opened at 7:00 a.m. today at the Longboat Island Chapel and the Town of Longboat Key Town Hall.
Longboat Key residents will join voters nationally in deciding who their political party will run for president of the United States.
Locally, voters will also decide whether to authorize the town to issue revenue bonds or notes not exceeding $23,850,000 maturing in no more than 30 years to bury electrical utilities in certain neighborhoods. That may include street lighting installation and communications or fiber optics utilities depending on the location.
Polls close at 7 p.m., and Town Clerk Trish Granger said she hopes to have results by 7:30 p.m.
