The Republican Club of Longboat Key held its first meeting of 2016 Jan. 19, at Longboat Key Club.

Retired Col. Derek Harvey spoke about U.S. policy in the Middle East and the battle against ISIS. Harvey was the first director of the Afghanistan-Pakistan Center of Excellence at U.S. Central Command.
