Longboat Key Garden Club Home Tour: Bixler Home

From Longbeach Village to Bay Isles, the Longboat Key Garden Club’s 40th annual Home and Garden Tour will feature six picturesque homes from around the Key, each unique in style and architecture. Take a peek inside the homes to be featured on the tour from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 5.

 

Bixler Home

When Tim and Toni Bixler custom built their home in 2014, they wanted it to resemble the styles found in Key West and the West Indies.

“We’ve always loved the look of that area,” Toni Bixler said. “But we don’t want to live there, so we thought this was perfect.”

The 2,650-square-foot home features three bedrooms, two in the main house and one in the casita, which is connected to the home by an outdoor kitchen.

The outdoor area features pool with a swim-out feature and a hot tub with a sunken fire pit.

When building their home, the Bixlers planned for the future, finding the best possible products they could. The home features underground utilities and uses natural gas.

“There’s not a lot about this home we don’t like,” Toni Bixler said.
