Eleanor Glickman, Richard Genda, Rose Farah and James Hamilton died.

Eleanor Glickman

Eleanor Glickman, 77, of Longboat Key, died Dec. 1.

She was born in Worcester, Mass., to Albert and Francis Fierer on Nov. 29, 1939. She graduated from Clark University with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in public administration and later earned a master’s degree in French from Assumption College.

In 1960, she married Melvyn Glickman. The two had a 56-year marriage. Eleanor will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother and role model to all. She was self-disciplined and forward thinking throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Joan Fierer. She is survived by her husband, Melvyn; children Kate and James; their spouses; four grandchildren; and sister Ina Klinger.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

 

Richard Paul Genda

Richard Genda, 81, of Longboat Key, died Nov. 26.

He was born and raised in Pekin, 

Ill., and graduated from Purdue University in 1956 with a degree in mechanical engineering.

Following graduation, he married Judith Morrow and began a career with Honeywell. The couple raised their three children in Little Rock, Ark., Arlington Heights, Ill., Atlanta and Freeport, Ill. The couple was active in bridge clubs and traveling and held an annual lobster party.

After 41 years with Honeywell, Dick retired and moved to the Longboat Key and Sarasota area. He served as the Longboat Harbour Yacht Club commodore, enjoyed boating and became involved with the Turtle Rock Men’s Club. He was active at the local YMCA and formed a special bond with his friends there. He was an avid fan of the Tampa Bay Rays and Purdue Boilermakers.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Todd W. Genda. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Judith; daughter Julie Genda McKinney; son Mitch; their spouses; four grandchildren; brother William Genda; and a niece and nephew.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Dec. 9 in the chapel at Church of the Palms, 3224 Bee Ridge Road. In lieu of flowers, his family requests friends do random acts of kindness in honor of Richard.

 

Rose Mae Farah

Rose Farah, 98, of Lakewood, Mo., and formerly, Longboat Key died Oct. 28.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Dec. 10 at Manasota Funeral Home, 1221 53rd Ave. E., Bradenton. Services will be held at 2 p.m. at the same location.
