Unusually warm fall temperatures couldn’t stop a sold-out crowd from indulging in soup for Bowls of Hope at Phillippi Estate Park Sunday afternoon.
More than 30 restaurants provided soups, stews and chili for the annual event hosted by All Faiths Food Bank.
All Faiths Food Bank CEO Sandra Frank was impressed by the sold-out attendance.
“The turnout is even bigger than last year,” Frank said. “That proves that it’s not about the weather or about the soup but about the cause.”
Guests were also treated to a performance from the Sarasota Ballet program Dance-The Next Generation.
Everyone in attendance was allowed to pick out a handmade clay bowl crafted by local artists and students from Sarasota County Schools. The keepsake serves as a reminder of the empty bowls that All Faiths Food Bank hopes to fill through its programs.
