Cougars fall in regular season finale

The Cardinal Mooney football team lost to Bayshore 14-10 in non-district action Nov. 6.

The Cardinal Mooney football team closed out the regular season with a 14-10 loss to Bayshore Nov. 6. 

Training 7-0, Cougars kicker Jake LaFemina hit a 35-yard field goal with 22.3 seconds remaining in the first half. Running back Vinny Conetta scored the Cougars lone touchdown on a 2-yard run in the third quarter to give Cardinal Mooney a 10-7 lead; but Bayshore responded with a 37-yard touchdown run to close out the third quarter to seal the victory. 

With the regular season behind it, Cardinal Mooney will now turn its attention to the playoffs. The Class 3A-District 5 runner-up Cougars travel to John Carroll Catholic Nov. 13 for a Class 3A-Region 3 quarterfinal. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
