PHOTO GALLERY: Urbanite Theatre takes over State Street

It was a blackout last night as Urbanite Theatre took over State Street Eating House's new cocktail lounge to host its swanky Black Party. Urbanite, Sarasota's newest intimate black-box theater, scheduled to open downtown this April, is in the final stages of fundraising, and the party served as a mini-fundraiser as well as a celebration of their progress so far.

Decked out in all black, guests sipped craft cocktails, mingled with co-artistic directors Brendan Ragan and Summer Dawn Wallace and received complimentary speakeasy-themed portraits from photographer Matthew Holler. To turn the heat up on the evening, several ladies showed off the body-paint stylings of a local body paint artist — all black, of course.
