Longboat real estate: Top 10 sales of 2015

A home on the 5800 block of Gulf of Mexico drive tops Longboat Key real estate sales this year.

The following transactions were the top Longboat Key sales by dollar amount recorded in 2015 in Sarasota and Manatee county property records at press time Dec. 18.

James Black, co-trustee of the Basil P. Zirinis Trust Agreement sold the home at 5871 Gulf of Mexico Drive to John and Kathleen Gormally, of Wilbraham, Mass., for $5,625,000. Built in 2008, it has five bedrooms, five baths, two half-baths, a pool and 6,037 square feet of living area. It previously sold for $7,125,000 in March 2009.

Bill and Mary Lou Johnson, of Longboat Key, sold the home at 5965 Gulf of Mexico Drive to Joseph Sena, of Belleair Beach, for $5.3 million. Built in 2007, it has six bedrooms, five-and-a-half baths, a pool and 10,087 square feet of living area.

Paul and Dawn Holland sold the home at 55 Lighthouse Point Drive sold to Lighthouse Land Trust and Links Avenue Real Estate Services LLC, of Ontario, Canada, for $4,215,000.

Built in 1995, it has four bedrooms, four-and-a-half baths, a pool and 6,159 square feet of living area. It previously sold for $3.1 million in June 2006.

Andre and Jean Butterfield, of Harrogate, England, sold their home at 1570 Harbor Cay Lane to Phineas and Sara Demink, of Bemus Point, N.Y., for $3.65 million. Built in 2011, it has five bedrooms, six and a half baths, a pool and 5,918 square feet of living area.

Francis Kulp, trustee, and Ronna Romney sold the home at 3550 Mistletoe Lane to Richard and Renee Ackley, of Longboat Key, for $3.55 million. Built in 1991, it has four bedrooms, four-and-a-half baths, a pool and 4,725 square feet of living area. It previously sold for $1.75 million in 2004.

William and Carol McKnight, of Bradenton, sold their Unit 3C1 at 2399 Gulf of Mexico Drive to Jonathan Detwiler, of Longboat Key, for $3.45 million. Built in 1998, it has four bedrooms, four-and-a-half baths, a pool and 4,018 square feet of living area. It last sold for $3.8 million in February 2007.

Michele McNeill, of Sarasota, sold her home at 611 Bowsprit Lane to Dane and Judy Cornell, of Longboat Key, for $3.25 million. Built in 1995, it has five bedrooms, five baths, a pool and 3,185 square feet of living area.

Irene Pompliano, trustee, of Longboat Key, sold the home at 5030 Gulf of Mexico Drive to Alice Wellington, trustee, of Longboat Key, for $3.2 million. Built in 1985, it has three bedrooms, four baths, a pool and 4,246 square feet of living area. It previously sold for $975,000 in 1995.

Harbor Cay Associates III sold the Unit 3 condominium at 2141 Gulf of Mexico Drive to R. Scott and Karen Shearer, of Sprucecreek, Pa., for $3.15 million. Built in 2001, it has three bedrooms, three-and-a-half baths and 3,800 square feet of living area. It previously sold for $2.9 million in 2002.

Randall Welch and Cynthia Heit-Welch, of Beaver Creek, Ohio, sold their Unit 206 condominium at 4965 Gulf of Mexico Drive to Dan and Karen Muehlenbein, of Indianapolis, for $3.15 million. Built in 2007, it has three bedrooms, three baths, a pool and 3,343 square feet of living area. It last sold for $2.8 million in March 2009.
