Flutes whistled and drums thumped as members of the Lakewood Ranch High School band converged for a two-week camp, from Aug. 3 through Aug. 13. Because of the summer storms, the students often played indoors in the school's band rooms, divvied off by instrument sections. The groups practiced pieces for the upcoming show they will perform at band competitions this school year. The show, themed Siren, focuses on fast and slow pieces that show the story of the mythological characters that lured in sailors with the sound of their beautiful voices.
