+ Colony Lender refiles lawsuit
Colony Lender LLC refiled a lawsuit against unit owners at the 237-unit shuttered Colony Beach & Tennis Resort last week in the 12th Judicial Circuit Court.

The suit seeks $4,594,276.40 for accrued unpaid rent plus interest on a disputed recreational facilities lease for the period through Oct. 29, 2008 through Aug. 15, 2014, plus $525,244.82 in unpaid real estate taxes plus interest, and attorney fees.

+ Waters to end Mote leadership
After two years as Mote Marine Laboratory’s chief advancement officer, Tom Waters will leave the organization on Oct. 10.
Waters accepted the CEO position at Easter Seals of Southwest Florida, a Sarasota organization that provides special-needs services for children and adults.
Waters began his work at Mote in April 2012. During his time at the organization, Waters was responsible for leading the laboratory and aquarium’s 2020 Vision and Strategic Plan. Adopted in 2011, the plan is a guide for Mote’s innovation in marine research, education, outreach and policy advice in relation to critical needs of the oceans. Waters was also responsible for heading the organization’s fundraising efforts.
“Under Tom’s development leadership, Mote has achieved a number of significant philanthropic goals,” said Dr. Michael Crosby, Mote’s president and CEO, in a news release. “We thank Tom for his many contributions as an integral part of our leadership team and our stellar group of development professionals.”
Mote will launch a nationwide replacement for the chief development officer position.
