At the very north end of Longboat Key sits my favorite place in all of Sarasota/Bradenton. It's known by many names, including “beer can island,” “North Whitney Beach” or just “that place with all the drifting trees.” Situated here are tons of old trees that have died and are just drifting around.

The massive trees change location daily as the tides come and go, which makes for a new experience every time you go. The large trees are so beautiful and they vary in appearance from aged driftwood to massive tangled roots. Personally, this is my favorite spot for pictures, because it's forever changing.

Whether you’re a local or a tourist, this is a perfect place to just hang out for a beach day, go for a stroll in the sand or watch the sunset. It’s a bit off the beaten path, so its beauty often goes unnoticed.
