The Longboat Key Town Commission will discuss a proposed ordinance that would restrict parking in areas of the Longbeach Village on first reading at 7 p.m. tonight at Longboat Key Town Hall.

The proposed ordinance would add the following restrictions that could take effect in November:
• No parking for the entire north side of Broadway from Palm Drive to Bayside Drive;
• No parking from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. on the entire south side of Broadway from Palm Drive to Bayside Drive;
• No parking on the east side of the street on Lois Avenue between Broadway and Russell Street;
• No parking on the eastside of street on Poinsetta Drive between Broadway and Russell Street.

Many residents expressed concern that the ordinance doesn’t go far enough at the Oct. 1 Longbeach Village Association meeting, pointing out that it does not address parking on Linley Street, near Mar Vista Dockside Restaurant & Pub.
