The Longboat Key Town Commission will vote on new restrictions to Longbeach Village parking at its 7 p.m. regular meeting tonight.

The proposed restrictions include a ban on parking on the north side of Linley Street. The commission voted last month on first reading in favor of eliminating parking on a to-be-determined side of Linley Street and asked town staff to make a recommendation on the side of the street on which to ban parking.

Both police and firefighters recommended eliminating north side parking, according to a staff report.

The commission added the restrictions to Linley Street parking after Village residents worried that the original ordinance wouldn’t go far enough.

Other restrictions in the ordinance include:

• No parking for the entire north side of Broadway Street from Palm Drive to Bayside Drive;
• No parking from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. on the entire south side of Broadway from Palm Drive to Bayside Drive;
• No parking on the east side of the street on Lois Avenue between Broadway and Russell Street;
• No parking on the eastside of street on Poinsetta Drive between Broadway and Russell Street.

If the commission adopts the ordinance tonight on second reading, restrictions could go into effect later this month.
