National stores commit to University Town Center

Crate & Barrel and J. Crew are coming to the new Mall at University Town Center, adding to a long line of national retailers that are committing to be part of the only interior mall scheduled to open this year in the United States.

Sarasota County building permits revealed the latest tenants for the mall this week.

Crate & Barrel, a national home furnishings retailer known for its upscale housewares, furniture and home accessories, has 170 stories in the U.S. This will be the first location in Southwest Florida for the retailer.

J. Crew, a national clothing retailer for men and women, has more than 20 stores in Florida and is known for its locations in luxury malls.

Also this week, the Saks Fifth Avenue sign was attached to the exterior of the mall.

The mall, which is being developed by Taubman Centers and Benderson Development, is expected to open Oct. 16. More than 100 tenants have committed to locations at the mall.
