Business U.S. 41
From Milan Avenue to Tampa Avenue
Maintenance. There will be intermittent northbound and southbound lane closures between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. until Jan. 19. Crews will be milling and resurfacing north and southbound lanes. Expect possible delays.
U.S. 41
From State Road 758 to Siesta Drive
Construction. Project consists of widening the roadway within the existing right-of-war, constructing a median with a one-way direction, extending left-turn lanes, and modifying the pedestrian crossing and overhead signs. From 9p.m. to 6 a.m., the contractor will be working within the sidewalk on the southbound side of the road to perform sidewalk and utility work. Starting tomorrow, the contractor will close the right southbound lane from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. to perform work. The lane closure will be nightly for the duration of the project. At Palm Avenue, 1st Street, 2nd Street, and between 10th and 11th Street
Maintenance. There will be intermittent northbound lane closures on U.S. 41 beginning today, through Thursday, Jan. 12, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Expect possible delays.
State Road 72
From West of Saddle Oak Trail to East of Myakka Valley Trail
Construction. This project consists of removing old asphalt and resurfacing the roadway, widening, drainage improvements, guardrail installation, sidewalks, signage and striping. Expect intermittent single lane closures during daytime hours while crews are working in the area, and possible delays. Work is expected to be completed Spring 2012. The contractor is Superior Asphalt, Inc.
CONTINUING PROJECTS:
Interstate 75
From North of North River Road to North of State Road 681
Construction. Improvements consist of widening I-75 to six lanes, realigning I-75 from north of Cow Pen Slough to Laurel Road, construction of new southbound bridges over Cow Pen Slough and Salt Creek, widening of northbound and southbound bridges over Curry Creek and Fox Creek, and interchange improvements at Laurel Road, Jacaranda Boulevard, and River Road. The contractor continues with the installation of new storm sewer drainage pipe, the transportation and placement of fill dirt (embankment), and the excavation for the new roadway and new lateral roadway ditches. The project is expected for completion in the summer of 2012. The contractor is Astaldi Construction Corporation.
U.S. 41
Over North Creek
Bridge Maintenance. Project consists of placing rip-rap in the channel. Work is expected to last until Jan. 28. The contractor is Wright Construction. No lane closures are expected, but may be needed during rip-rap installation.
State Road 789
At the Ringling Bridge
Bridge Maintenance. Crews will be working on the bridge. There will be no lane closures. Maintenance work will continue daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. through the end of February.
Over Coon Key Waterway
Bridge Maintenance. Project consists of placing rip-rap at various pier locations. Work is expected to finish Jan. 28. The contractor is Wright Construction. No lane closures are expected.
State Road 758 (Bee Ridge Road)
From Beneva Road to McIntosh Road
Maintenance. There will be eastbound outside lane closures through Jan. 16 between 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Crews will be repairing storm water inlets and drain pipes. Expect possible delays.
From U.S. 41 to Beneva Road
Maintenance. There will be eastbound outside lane closures through Jan. 13 between 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Crews will be repairing storm water inlets and drain pipes. Expect possible delays.
From Cattlemen Road to Maverick Avenue
Maintenance. There will be intermittent westbound lane closures today and Jan. 10, from 9 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Florida Power and Light will be replacing five existing power poles. Expect possible delays
State Road 681
Over U.S. 41
Bridge maintenance. This project consists of bridge maintenance and steel painting. The southbound lane on U.S. 41 is expected to be closed throughout the week of Jan. 3 while the contractor is working. Expect possible delays.
State Road 72 (Clark Road)
Replacement of the bridge over the Myakka River
Construction. This project consists of the removal and replacement of the existing 57-year-old bridge over the Myakka River. The new structure will consist of two travel lanes with 8-foot wide shoulders. There is potential for some occasional delays during daylight hours. The contractor is Kelly Brothers Construction Inc. The project is expected to finished in the summer 2012.
From West of Proctor Road to Saddle Creek Trail
Construction. This project consists of removing asphalt and resurfacing the roadway, turn lane construction, drainage improvements, guardrail installation and intersection improvements. Expect single lane closures from 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This project is expected to finished spring 2012. The contractor is Ajax Paving Industries.
