New downtown restaurant opens

The Half Shell Oyster House, 1991 Main Street, is holding a two-tiered opening celebration this weekend.

The new seafood restaurant is hosting The Mark Wandall Foundation’s new Safety Saves Lives program tonight with a program kickoff reception from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. with a $25 per person donation. The Half Shell Oyster House is donating 100% of the proceeds back to The Mark Wandall Foundation.

The restaurant opens its newest location in downtown Sarasota on Monday, Jan. 9.

Starting next week, The Half Shell Oyster House will be open for lunch and dinner and Sunday brunch seven days per week.

The restaurant’s hours will be 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.

The Gulfport, Miss.-based Half Shell Oyster House also has location in Gulfport and Biloxi, Miss.
