Sept. 29
Sleeping Beauty sent packing
9:07 a.m. — 800 block of North Tamiami Trail.
Trespassing. Employees of a movie theater reported a woman sleeping in front of the theater on a blanket. She was issued a trespass warning and advised not to return.

Collision course
3:16 p.m. — Intersection of U.S. 41 and Indian Beach Drive. Crash. A man told police he pulled forward in his car to make a right turn on U.S. 41 at the traffic light, and a bicyclist slammed into the side of his passenger door. The bicyclist said the driver never looked, and he had to avoid being run over by the driver.

Mirror image
7:05 p.m. — 600 block of Golden Gate Point. Suspicious Circumstance. A woman told police that someone smashed her car’s side mirror. Days later, it was pulled back into place. It appeared someone had been chipping away at the mirror with a tool.

Sept. 30
End note
10:35 a.m. — 1200 block of North Gulfstream Avenue.
Theft. A woman told police that her late father’s violin, which she had kept under her bed for several years, was now missing.

Going postal
12:26 p.m. — 1100 block of Highland Avenue. Suspicious Circumstance. A woman told police that a couple was driving down her street in a gold Honda, taking mail out of her neighbors’ mailboxes. Police couldn’t locate the suspects.

Child care
8 p.m. — 1700 block of Central Avenue. Family Dispute. A woman reported that her mother-in-law would not return her 2-year-old son to her. The grandmother told police there was an upcoming court date regarding the child’s custody, but police explained the child would have to be returned to the mother until the matter was resolved.

Preparing for the holidays?
10:16 p.m. — 2900 block of Bahia Vista Street.
Suspicious Noise. A woman reported that she heard and saw fireworks in the air behind her house. Police found no signs of firework activity.

Not so happy hour
11 p.m. — 1300 block of Main Street. Suspicious Circumstance. Two women told police that two nights ago, they each had had one drink at a restaurant before passing out. Both believe something was slipped into their drinks. Video footage of the restaurant was going to be reviewed.

Bucket list
6:30 a.m. — 200 block of John Ringling Boulevard.
Suspicious Person. Someone reported a man took a bucket full of shells from Bird Key Park and loaded it into his truck.

Shattered glass
8:30 p.m. — 1500 block of North Orange Avenue. Criminal Mischief. A woman told police that someone threw a small rock through her front window and broke two panes of glass.

Oct. 3
Motorist sent to jail
4:20 a.m. — Intersection of Fruitville Road and North Tuttle Avenue.
Reckless Driving. Police found a man passed out behind the wheel of his car in the middle of an intersection and took him to jail after the only license he could produce was a Mexican identification card.

Ex-files
9 p.m. — 1700 block of South Tamiami Trail. Criminal Mischief. A woman told police that someone smashed the driver’s side rear window in her car. She told police she has been having problems with her ex-boyfriend, who has scratched her car in the past.

You’re not welcome
12:03 a.m. — 1900 block of North Orange Avenue. Trespassing. A woman told police she has been having issues with an acquaintance who keeps texting her and entering her house without permission. Police issued the acquaintance a trespass warning.
