The city of Sarasota and Jonathan Parks Architect will host a reception 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30 to officially display the Palm Avenue garage public art murals.

Professional artists painted a mural on each of the five levels of the garage over the past several weeks.
“I’m excited about these murals and the energy they’re generating downtown,’ said Mayor Suzanne Atwell, in a news release. ‘They’re beautiful, fun, memorable and unique. This public art project really showcases why Sarasota is an arts destination.”

Each floor now depicts a cultural arts theme hand painted by artists from around the world, including Sarasota.

The floor themes include dance, film, music, opera and theatre.

The project was funded with dollars from the Public Art Fund. The Palm Avenue garage opened Dec. 31 and was designed by Jonathan Parks Architect.
