Travel trouble
8:09 p.m. — 600 block of Spanish Drive North
. Lost Property. A man told police he lost his wallet in Ohio while en route to Longboat Key.

Jan. 27
More than ‘meats’ the eye
9:13 a.m. — 2600 block of Gulf of Mexico Drive (GMD)
. Lost Property. A couple called police to report that resort employees were entering their room and taking everything from purses to dirty boxers. Police were able to find the items in question in the room and asked resort employees about the couple’s behavior. Five resort employees told police the couple accused them of stealing purses, meatballs left in the refrigerator and other items. No further action was taken.

11:48 p.m. — 6800 block of GMD
. Security Check. Police secured the door of a construction office.

Scam scare
1:08 p.m. — 3200 block of GMD
. Suspicious Circumstance. A woman told police someone called her impersonating her grandson and asked her for money. Police advised the woman it is a long-running scam.

Jan. 28
Getting wired
3:15 a.m. — 5600 block of GMD
. Fire. Police stood by as Longboat Key Fire Rescue worked on an electrical problem in a building.

Escape route
11:50 a.m. — 4700 block of GMD
. Trespassing. A hotel general manager reported a trespasser. The trespasser could not be located.

Valid point
10:55 a.m. — 200 block of GMD
. Traffic Violation. A man received a ticket for not having a valid driver’s license.

Ex-lovers quarrel
7:11 p.m. — 500 block of Yawl Lane
. Suspicious Circumstance. A woman reported that her ex-husband was destroying items in her home, because he’s upset with the home’s upcoming sale.

Caller i.d.
12:12 p.m. — 5400 block of GMD
. Found Property. A woman dropped off a cell phone she found on St. Armands Circle. The owner was located and retrieved his phone.

Jan. 31
Playing it cool
1:45 p.m. — 3600 block of Bayou Circle
. Civil Disturbance. A woman told police a contractor installed a used air-conditioning system, and she refused to let him back into her house to retrieve his belongings. Police stood by while he collected his things. The air conditioner issue was deemed a civil matter.

It’s in the bag
11:48 p.m. — Intersection of GMD and Outrigger Lane
. Found Property. Police observed a black-and-tan computer bag hanging from a utility marker. It was placed into evidence at the police station.

Feb. 1
Exit strategy
11:31 p.m. — 500 block of Bay Isles Road
. Suspicious Circumstance. Two people flagged down police to report a woman drove into the post office parking lot too fast while entering via the exit. She was warned to be more careful.

I can see clearly now
12:44 a.m. — 100 block of GMD
. Found Property. Police found a pair of black women’s eyeglasses in Overlook Park that were in a black-and-pink Bebe case.

Feb. 2
No need for alarm
10:52 a.m. — 3500 block of Fair Oaks Lane
. Security Check. A woman called police to report that a motion sensor in her neighbor’s alarm system was activated. Police checked the home and found no one inside.

Parking citation issued
12:44 p.m. — 500 block of Bay Isles Parkway
. Parking Violation. Police left a parking citation on a car windshield because the car was parked in the no-parking, yellow striped area between two marked handicap spaces.
