+ City administration offices closed for holidays
City of Sarasota administration offices will be closed Friday, Dec. 23, Monday, Dec. 26 and Monday, Jan. 2, in observance of the Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays.

Weekly garbage and recycling collection will not be impacted during the holidays.

Parking meters and pay stations will not be enforced Friday, Dec. 23 through Monday, Dec. 26 or Monday, Jan. 2.

The Lido Pool will also be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

+ Correction
In the Dec. 15 Sarasota Observer, City Manager Bob Bartolotta was quoted as stating the police presence in Newtown has doubled since he has been city manager. Resources in the neighborhood have doubled, but the number of officers has not.
