The Manatee County Board of Commissioners today set many of its 2012 legislative priorities to prepare for the upcoming legislative session.

New priorities being considered by the board center around basin boards and growth management.

Manatee County is considering its options on how to best deal with concerns over a loss of local input in the decision-making process for how to invest Southwest Florida Water Management District property-tax revenue for water projects.

Additionally, in wake of changes to the Growth Management Act, Manatee County considered urging the Legislature to consider Florida’s unique makeup and future growth needs and to create guiding principals for concurrency and growth that local governments can apply.
