Sarasota Kiwanis gives out $45,000

Several East County organizations were recently named recipients of grants given by the Kiwanis Club of Sarasota.

Thirteen organizations received grants ranging from $1,000 to $10,000, for a total of $45,000.

Among those receiving funds were the East County’s Community Haven, an organization that works with children and adults with disabilities, and The Wellness Community — Southwest Florida, a cancer support organization building a new facility in Lakewood Ranch.

Community Haven received $2,000 to install field turf on the preschool playground areast to facilitate the movement of all Haven students.

The Wellness Community received $5,000 to provide funding for the Kiwanis Children’s Expressive Arts Studio.

Other organizations receiving funds include the Boy Scouts of America, the Boys & Girls Club of Sarasota County, the Early Learning Coalition of Sarasota County, the Florida Center for Child and Family Development, Habitat for Humanity Sarasota, Manasota SOLVE, the Mayor’s Feed the Hungry program, Mothers Helping Mothers, Pines of Sarasota, the Resurrection House and The Salvation Army.
