Sheriff's office conducts drug sting

The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office has arrested nearly 50 people as part of a prescription narcotics roundup Oct. 29.

As of Friday, the sheriff’s office had arrested 49 subjects on a total of 126 charges with more arrests pending.

The Special Investigation Division began the investigation about three months ago and obtained arrest warrants for 71 individuals with a total of 210 charges. Fifty-three of those charges were for selling controlled substances, while 157 of them were for obtaining a controlled substance by fraud, a report states.
