Braden River Elementary School student Levi Waxler fulfilled his dream of signing the national anthem during the Tampa Bay Ray’s game against the Kansas City Royals May 1 at Tropicana Field.
The 9-year-old signed in front of a crowd of more than 34,000.
“It was amazing,” his mother Tanya said. “We were treated like royalty.”
Levi, who aspires to be a sign language interpreter or teacher, has become a local celebrity since he began signing the national anthem at Sunday polo matches at the Sarasota Polo Club in February. He began learning sign language when he was just 7 years old.
