+ Fish Hole golf course opens
The East County’s first miniature golf course opened June 24 on Lakewood Ranch Main Street. The Fish Hole on Lakewood Ranch now offers 18 holes of miniature golf along the bank of Lake Uihlein.

Owner Jacob Spooner also will be opening a golf and novelty store called Main Street Bazaar adjacent to the course.

+ Hunter sentenced for manslaughter
A judge last week decided Josh Hunter, former football coach at Braden River High School, will serve more than 10 years in prison for a drunken driving accident last year that killed one of his best friends.

On May 17, a jury found Hunter, 33, guilty of DUI manslaughter for driving his truck off the County Road 681 on-ramp to Interstate 75. The accident killed Braden River Assistant Coach Doug Garrity.

+ Clarification
In the June 24 edition, Summerfield resident Joani Ellis said some documents — such as her membership to the Paw Park in Lakewood Ranch — were not provided to her for viewing by her HOA, as required by law.

However, that record is the responsibility of her community development district, not the homeowner’s association.
