Manatee County has two openings on a Citizens Advisory Committee that makes recommendations to the Metropolitan Planning Organization on transportation planning issues and needs.

The voluntary advisory board, comprising 27 Manatee and Sarasota residents, provides input on the transportation planning process that reflects the citizens’ views and attitudes. Each vacant position is a three-year term.

Committee members represent a general cross section of the citizens of Sarasota and Manatee counties, including the cities within the counties. Representatives are recommended for appointment by their perspective units of local government and they are appointed by the MPO Board.

The group meets at 6 p.m. the first Thursday of each month at the MPO Offices located at Airport Commerce Center, 7632 15th St. E., Sarasota.

Applications are due Dec. 30 and may be found online at www.mymanatee.org/advisory_boards.

For more information, call Bob Herrington at 359-5772 or e-mail him at [email protected]. Minorities and people with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
