Deputies to focus on DUIs

The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office is moving forward with efforts to stop drunken driving next week.

The office is participating in “Drunk Driving, Over the Limit, Under Arrest,” a national program to crack down on impaired driving through the upcoming Labor Day weekend.

The sheriff’s office traffic unit will have three to five deputies focusing on DUIs during the week and six deputies on the weekend. Regular patrol deputies also will be looking for impaired drivers, a report states.
