Along Ringling Boulevard, asphalt was removed from turn lanes between U.S. 301 and Orange Avenue earlier this week as the city prepares to repave those areas.

The construction is one of the last pieces of an ongoing street paving project throughout the city. When the project is completed this month, about 12-13 miles of road will have been repaved, according to city spokeswoman Jan Thornburg.

Crews will work tonight and Thursday night, and barring any setbacks, the roads will be repaved before Friday, Thornburg said.

During the course of the year, public works crews use a scale of 1-100 to rate roads throughout the city. That assessment, along with input from residents, determines which streets get repaved each year, Thornburg said.
