+ LRLL registration upcoming
Lakewood Ranch Little League will hold registration for the spring season from 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 10 and Jan. 17 and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 11 and Jan. 18, at the Lakewood Ranch Ballpark.

Individuals interested in participating must bring a birth certificate, proof of residency and a Little League school enrollment form for those taking advantage of the new eligibility rule. This season, Little Leaguers who reside outside Lakewood Ranch Little League boundaries are now eligible to play at Lakewood Ranch Little League.

Cost is $75 for T-ball and coach pitch; $150 AA machine pitch; and $190 for all other divisions. Sibling discounts are available. Tryouts for minors, majors and intermediates will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 18. Opening day is scheduled for Feb. 15.

+ TOPSoccer to kick off winter season
The Braden River Soccer Club TOPSoccer program will hold registration for the winter season from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Jan. 11, at the Braden River Soccer Club fields behind Lakewood Ranch High School.
TOPSoccer is a free soccer program for physically and developmentally disabled athletes, ages 4 and up.
Parents of individuals interested in participating must provide a release or letter from their family doctor that allows the athlete to play soccer, as well as a photo ID.

TOPSoccer will have six sessions from 10:30 a.m. to noon every Saturday, beginning Jan. 25. The season runs through March 1. All players will receive a uniform jersey, soccer ball and water bottle.

The Greater Sarasota Junior Golf Season kicked off its 2014 season Jan. 5, on the Royal Lakes Course at the Lakewood Ranch Golf & Country Club.
