Sarasota Police have arrested a man for allegedly dousing a puppy in hot sauce Sunday.

Ephrian Myles, 47, poured hot sauce on his girlfriend's 3-month-old dog after it had a seizure and began barking, according to the probable cause affidavit. Authorities responded to the scene at the 3800 block of Rilma Avenue after 1 a.m. Sunday, and found a puddle of the condiment on the floor.

Officers Jennifer Sullivan and Adam Arena washed the puppy, Gizmo, then transferred the dog to Animal Services, where it is expected to make a full recovery, according to a news release.

Police charged Myles with aggravated animal cruelty, which is a felony, and transported him to Sarasota County Jail where he is being held on a $5,000 bond.
