+ Portable storage proposed for Key
A Montana man who regularly visits Longboat Key is tired of his inability to store things on the Key. So, on Monday at the regular workshop, Carl Heishman asked the Longboat Key Town Commission if it would be open to him building a commercial storage unit on the Key.

He said it would not be the land-eating type that has tin siding and one garage door after another, but rather an architecturally pleasing multilevel unit.

“Believe me, I wouldn’t want to see industrial buildings on your island,” Heishman said.

Commissioners wondered if such a project could fit in areas where existing buildings are vacant. They suggested that Heishman meet with Planning and Zoning staff for direction because rezoning would have to occur.
