Moore’s Stone Crab Restaurant at 800 Broadway in Longbeach Village sold for $3.2 million July 7, according to a deed filed Monday with the Manatee County Clerk of the Circuit Court.

Moore-Hicks Limited Partnership, a corporation owned by Alan Moore, Paul Moore and Robert Hicks, sold the restaurant and property to 800 Broadway LLC, a corporation owned by Sarasota restaurateurs Mark Caragiulo and Tom Leonard.

800 Broadway LLC took out a $3.25 million mortgage the day of the sale and a secondary mortgage of $2.66 million for a total of $5,985,000.

Caragiulo and Leonard will spend the next year going through the town approval process to build a new restaurant on the site that will be similar to the Shore on St. Armands Circle, which they both own.

Moore’s Stone Crab Restaurant was a 48-year-old iconic restaurant on Longboat Key.

The Moores and Hicks will not be involved with the new restaurant, although they will consult with Caragiulo and Leonard to help them incorporate stone crabs as a major feature of the new eatery.
