New teachers who came to the Manatee County School District for the 2015-2016 school year received larger paychecks than current educators in the district with the same experience.

April 12, the district released a statement that cited an error was made in the Performance Salary Schedule, which calculates how much teachers earn.

The 174 new teachers to the district earned more than their counterparts who served longer in the district, a press release said.

To address the issue, the Manatee Education Association and the school district will place those new teachers at the correct salary rate equal to their peers. That won't happen until the 2016-2017 school year.

No teachers' salaries will change this school year.
