Manatee County Commissioners slated to review report on Animal Services

A verdict announced last week in the Alan and Sheree Napier animal abuse case, Manatee County Commissioners are now seeking answers as to what went wrong at the county level.

In August, the county hired Matrix Consulting Group to conduct a review of the Animal Services Department to determine best practices for handling animal abuse situations, such as the one that took place at Napier's Log Cabin Horse and Animal Sanctuary.

At their work session at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 12, Manatee County Commissioners will review the report generated by the California-based firm.

The county will use the recommendations to better the department, officials said.

The commissioners meeting is open to the public and will be held at the County Administrative Center, 1112 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton.
