Longboat Library prepares for new season

On Nov. 1, the Longboat Library will begin its 58th season. The library will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturdays.

The library first opened its doors in a room with only 400 books. It moved to its current location, 555 Bay Isles Road, in 1972 and continues to grow and is home to nearly 10,000 books. The library also has books for sale ranging from 50 cents to $4.

Membership to the library is $25 per year, and there is a lifetime membership fee of $350.
