The inaugural Wine & Stone Crab Celebration took place Friday, Nov. 12 and Saturday, Nov. 13, at the Longboat Key Club to kick off the stone-crab season.

Saturday evening’s event included tables for 13 different wineries, tons of stone crab, music and a dessert table. The evening had about 200 guests, with 400 people in attendance overall for the whole weekend.

Longboat Key Club members had the opportunity to talk with winemakers and guest chefs as well as attend classes, dinners and wine-tasting events throughout the weekend.

Bob Weil, director of food and beverage at Longboat Key Club and Resort, noted that although the event had previously always been held at The Colon Beach & Tennis Resort, he was pleased with the club's take on the event and happy to have had a hand in helping kick off the stone-crab season on Longboat Key.
