Who wins in a battle of wits: a falcon or a mustang?

At 7 p.m. March 15, the Lakewood Ranch High mustangs will face off against the Saint Stephen's Episcopal School falcons at the Manatee Academic Challenge, to be held at Southeast High School.

Each school has three players on their team, and will answer questions on history, geography, math, literature, science and other subjects. The event consists of three rounds, which span seven minutes each.

School Board Vice-Chairman Charlie Kennedy will provide the questions and judge the competition.

The challenge started as a tournament between six public county high schools and dwindled down to the East County school and college preparatory school to the west.

Interested in cheering on your school? Attendees must arrive to Southeast High by 6:30 p.m.

Those who can't attend the competition can tune in to channel 646 (Bright House) or 39 (Verizon Fios.)
